Coffee Table Styling: 7 Tips to Create a Beautiful Space
After a few people asked for this, I decided it was time to talk about the centerpiece of your living room-the coffee table. So, let’s talk coffee table styling: 7 tips to create a beautiful space.
I don’t know about you but my coffee table changes ALL.THE.TIME! Of course I change it with the seasons, but I also just get bored and decide to move things around. To me, that is what makes styling a coffee table so fun! It doesn’t take much time and it makes a huge impact.
Tip 1: Shop Your Home. Whenever I am starting to change up the coffee table, I walk around and look at things in my home that are either not being used or that could use a new place to call home. Very rarely do I ever go out and buy anything new, unless it is a seasonal change.
Tip 2: Mix new and vintage. Combining 2 different eras makes for an interesting visual. I do this by using old books or vintage jars. Maybe even by adding vintage baskets or trays as well. Don’t be afraid to move things around and reposition them as you find their perfect balance.
Tip 3: Play around with different textures. To make things appealing to the eye, mix textures and shapes. Combine rounded items and squared items, natural elements with mass produced items. Hard items with soft items. You get the picture, use that amazing imagination you have!
Tip 4: Keep it simple and practical. This is one area I see a lot of people veer off. If you put too much decor on your table, it gets overwhelming to the eye. Clean lines create a beautiful story for the guests. Don’t crowd the space.
Tip 5: Add greenery. It can be real or fake but adding greenery to your coffee table brings it to life. You can even go out to your yard and just grab some branches from a tree and put them in a vase to add interest.
Tip 6: Use a tray or basket. I tend to enjoy keeping my items compartmentalized somewhat. Using a tray or basket gives me the ability to do so. I have collected quite a few trays and baskets over time so I just change them out frequently.
Tip 7: Add books for height or interest. If you have a really interesting coffee table book, leave it open to an interesting page for your guests to peruse. You can use books to add varying heights on the table as well. Stack two or three up and then place greenery on top, or even add an interesting shape such as a sphere of some sort.
