9 Tips for Styling Your Porch or Patio

Happy Memorial Day friends! Today, I thought it would be fun to share 9 tips for styling your porch or patio with a little inspiration as well. As you will quickly be able to tell, I am obsessed with porch swings. My sweet friend Dana over @Ourfergusonfarmhouse has the most adorable front porch around! So with that…..

Tip #1: Have a focal point piece. For Dana, the porch swing is the focal point of this space don’t you think? I am linking one that is on a great sale right now.

Tip #2: Style that focal point piece. With her space being the porch swing, it is good to add pillows like these here and here and blankets to add character to that space.

Tip #3: Add in plants to the space to add texture. Here are a couple that I love: here, here and here. And again, these are all on great sale right now.

Tip #4: Use a variety of planters to give some life and color to your outdoor space. I am liking these and these.

Tip #5: Choose doormats that compliment your space. Rhonda @bear_creek_farmhouse styled her doormats perfectly. I am liking this one layered with this one.

Tip #6: Compliment your porch with a variety of lanterns. I love this wooden one and this metal one as well. Nicole @fancyfixdecor used lanterns so well in her outdoor oasis.

Tip #7: Add in colorful flowers for that fresh look. I am in love with any color pansies. They are so easy to grow and remain vibrant. I love the blue flowers that Sasha @smalltown.farmhouse added to her porch.

Tip #8: You can never go wrong with adding rocking chairs. Oh my goodness, they are just the cutest. Every time I go to Cracker Barrel, I can’t help but sit in the ones on the front porch. Something about rocking chairs just soothes my soul. I love these and these. Ashton @southernrootsandboots styled these perfectly for the Memorial Day holiday.

Tip #9: Find a great outdoor rug to create that cozy vibe. I found this one at World Market and it is adorable. I loved it so much that I bought 2! Here are a couple other great ones here and here.
